MARKETING IS AN ART FORM

Hey!!! You came back!...at least I hope you did. Let’s pretend that you did.

Recap on what happened in the last issue I gave you the complete run down of everything DAYDREAM from our name, our spelling,  to the significance of the thought bubble. If you didn’t get a chance to read it, it’s ok! Feel free to read the full issue here

So this week’s topic is marketing is an art form. This week We are giving a simple over view of what marketing is, what it is NOT, how it has evolved and how it could help you readers in expanding your business and brand ( please note that this is a short overview in later post I plan to dive deeper into the subject…hopefully).

On our website (daydreammktg.com) something you’ve probably noticed by now ( if you haven’t go look now!!! ) each and every page on our site is adorned with a thought provoking piece of artwork. Each chosen specifically to be eye catching, vibrant and unique.  If you're thinking (Hmmm eye catching…vibrant…unique… sounds like a good marketing strategy) then your spot on!!!

The strategy and techniques used to create beautiful masterpieces run parallel to creating an amazing marketing campaign and can be elaborated in several different ways but we have simplified it into 3 steps for now…

STEP 1. CONCEPTION

The American Marketing Association defines marketing as

"The activity, set of institutions, and processes for creating, communicating, delivering, and exchanging offerings that have value for customers, clients, partners, and society at large."

Though I use the word marketing very loosely it’s actually composed of several multifaceted strategies and niche components.  From the colors used in the logo (color psychology) to the look and feel of the brick and motor store (consumer psychology and store layout) and even the packaging of the final product, each part is essential to providing customers an “experience” in the purchasing of a product or service. Similar to a good artist creating such masterpieces takes time and the development of a concept and idea of what your companies brand will be. What customers should experience when doing business with you. How you desire to be perceived.  All this requires Research, data collection and analyzing.

STEP 2. CREATION

Once an artist has done research on the art work, solidified the concept, chosen the canvas and readied all the colors. The magic happens (Yasss!!!) the creation of your work. Once you have your strategy you can start developing ways to get your message out by deciding media outlets ( social media, radio, television, etc.) the creation of content ( blogs, vlogs, etc.) and the tangible items ( flyers, business cards pamphlets).

All this establishes the creation of your brand and image that you have already planned and developed in your conception phase. Marketing is just as much science as it is art. so though you could start randomly creating social media post about your products and services thinking that it will sell itself understand that the likelihood of you being successful without proper planning and adequate research is slim.

STEP 3. REFINEMENT

With every new piece the artist grows and refines his or her capabilities the same thing goes with a good marketing strategy it’s an art form because it's alive (it's alive!!!... Where is a Frankenstein gif when you need it)

Even better :)

Art is a living breathing thing because artist art constantly changing and enhancing and refining their work so how you reach your customers and what you do to get keep them loyal to your brand (brand loyalty)

should be ever changing. coke has been around years and yet they still create new and improved ways to remain relevant like with their legendary “share a coke” idea which quite frankly every souvenir shop ever has been using this same technique but hey whatevs….

So there you have it, very brief overview of marketing as an art form I’m so sorry for my marketing specialist this is a tiny drop in the vast ocean of what marketing means and what it can do to help a company. However, stick with me kid we're going places ( no seriously we are going places) and I will be touching on a lot of the concepts mentioned and some not mentioned.
